The doctor in charge who implemented the decision to withdraw or withhold LST should record the implementation process and results in [Appendix Form No. 13].
In the case of implementing the decision to withdraw or withhold LST, the implementation time point is the point that the doctor in charge(or the doctor in charge and one medical specialist in the relevant field) assesses the person as a patient at the end stage of life, verifies the decision to withdraw or withhold LST for the patient and then makes a decision on the implementation.
Withdrawing and withholding are not separated in the Life-sustaining Treatment Decisions Act. Since multiple life-sustaining treatments can be withheld or withdrawn sequentially at different times, the implementation time point is set to the point where the decision on implementation is made comprehensively.
Life-sustaining Treatment Plan is valid only by completing the form. Thus, if a terminal patient completes the form, right after being assessed as a patient at the end stage of life, and if the patient at the end stage of life completes the form, the completion time point becomes the implementation time point.
In case the doctor in charge(or the doctor in charge and one medical specialist in the relevant field) verifies the decision to withdraw or withhold LST for the patient through Advance Directive on Life-sustaining Treatment, statements of two patient family members, and unanimous consensus of the patient’s family members, it can be considered that there was a decision made for implementation.
