System for decisions to forgo LST aims to
enable patients to end their lives with dignity
by establishing standards and procedures that
decide and withhold/withdraw life-sustaining treatment.

Through Advance Directives and Life-sustaining Treatment Plan, the system will ensure that the life-sustaining treatment that is medically insignificant and that the patient does not want to receive can be avoided. It also intends to protect the family from the burden of responsibility to make decision on life-sustaining treatment for the patient and the psychological and social burdens that follow.
